iRoots.Net LookUp Guidelines

It is our intention that the iRoots.Net Lookup Library shall follow all applicable copyright laws and fair use practices.
Any person offering a "lookup" of resources on this site must adhere to the following guidelines:
- Any resource in the public domain may be freely copied in any form.
- All resources published before 1924 are in the public domain.
- Other resources published after 1924 but before 1964 may be in the public domain.

If you find that a resource published after 1924 is in the public domain, please provide the supporting documentation to the iRoots.Net library.
- If you can obtain written permission from the author/publisher of a copyrighted resource, you are free to copy or otherwise duplicate the material as specified by the author/publisher.
If you do get written permission, please provide a copy of the letter to the iRoots.Net library.
- When providing a lookup of copyrighted material, use the following guidelines:
- Do not photocopy, electronically copy, or otherwise duplicate the text or images of a copyrighted resource.
- Factual information or quotes that are publicly available may be copied, but the organization and formatting of that material is copyrighted and owned by the copyright holder. When providing this type of information, retype it yourself and make sure that it looks significantly different than it does in the original resource.
- Paraphrase narrative material. Again, retype it yourself and make sure that it looks significantly different than it does in the original resource.
- Always provide the title, author, publisher, date published, and page number for lookups of copyrighted information (this should be provided with all information, but especially important for copyrighted material). Additionally, if you have any information about where this resource can be purchased, you should pass that on.
