» In one of the strong Jackson counties of North Carolina, the Democrats, in the late canvass, put Mr. J. Goe upon their ticket. He was a popular man, but the result was no Goe.

By G.D. Prentice, Editor of the Louisville Journal, 1860.

1783 Bible

This bible was donated to PrenticeNet by the Carroll County Genealogical Society (of Carroll Co., MD)

The New Testament, printed in London in 1783. Written records that go back to 1749. It also has some incredible woodcuts depicting bible stories. It would appear that this bible was owned by Capt. Henry Prentiss (Binney #54), son of Joshua (#21) and Mary. It has birth and death dates (and other notes) for Henry, Ruth, Elizabeth, and Susan (Sukey). Based on a burn on the cover it looks like it went through a fire.

• Gregory Leonard Prentice. You left a query on this site looking for Prentice's in Hamilton. I believe I am from the family you are looking for but your internet address is not delivering my messages. My uncle Leslie Prentice lives in London Ontario. If you contact me via e-mail we can talk further. John

• Just ran across your website and think it's great. I am trying to find info on George C. Prentice and Anna Dingman married in Noble County Indiana, had two children-Margery Ann Prentice (my gr-grandmother) b: 1846 and Charles N. Prentice. George must have died in 1862 as that is when his children were appointed a guardian named Thomas Wilson. Margery was raised by two maiden aunts, names unknown. Charles married Margret Knepper 24 Dec 1874, had 5 children, Raymond A. , William L. , Susan A. (Hyndman) , Aura E. (Iden) and Violet A. (Kolberg) . Charles died 19 May 1924. All this info I got from the Noble county history site. What I can't find are the parents of George and Anna. Does anyone have any info on these two people? Any help would really be appreciated. Thank you, Doris. E-mail me

• I have an old antique hand drill press that belonged to my grandfather Jay R. Prentice. These words are inscribed on the chuck: A. F. PRENTICE, Maker, Worcestor, Mass. , pat pend Feb. 15, 1870. It is in very good working condition and would like to know more about the manufacturer. From all I could learn so far I think it is more of a coincidence than an ancestor but would like to know more. Can anyone help? Bruce Prentice 970-332-4191
