» If the new Postmaster-General wishes to know what our neighbor really thinks of him, let him take from that paper the twine contract. He will then find, that "The twine that's untwisted untwisteth the twist."

By G.D. Prentice, Editor of the Louisville Journal, 1860.

  • Volunteer to provide content.  Regardlesss of your membership type, all members can volunteer to author and maintain web pages on topics that interest you. Just let us know about ideas you've got and we'll see where it fits in to the website.
  • Donate items to the Prentice Museum.  If you've got Prentice-related items that you no longer want, we'd be glad to take them off your hands. Or if you've got items that you do want to keep, but would like to share them with others, we'd love to get photos (paper or digital) of them. Either way, your items will end up being featured in the Prentice Museum for all to see!
  • Research.  There is always the need for the gathering of more information. When you travel to new places, look for Prentices. Even in your home town, check the cemeteries and clerks office for Prentice information. Most of the items in the Prentice Museum are in dire need of research. If you see something that you'd like to learn more about, just let us know!
  • Purchase Prentice items or contribute.  Any purchases you make from the PrenticeNet Store help to keep the site running. We also gladly accept contributions! Sorry .. we're not officially a non-profit organization, but do guarantee that all purchases and contributions go directly back in to buying more items for the museum or keeping the website running.
  • Sponsor a museum item.  If a particular museum item has special meaning to you, we offer you the ability to to sponsor that item. Sponsoring an item means that your name (or the name of an individual you'd like to honor), will be permanently associated with that item as the official sponsor.

    • Additional benefits to be determined.
  • Lifetime.  Lifetime membership costs $500. In addition to our sincere gratitude for your significant support, a Lifetime membership provides all the benefits available to a Supporting member .. for the rest of your life!

• My great-aunt BESSIE PRENTICE (b. 1892 in Glasgow) married DUGALD PATON CAVES in 1920 (also in Glasgow) . They emigrated to USA-don't know where, but he died in 1966 in Massachusetts. Can anyone help me to find out more about this branch of my family?

• I am searching for Daniel Prentice, who lived in Chicago on the north side in 1957/ 1958. He worked as a part time apartment manager I believe and would have been about 26 years old . . . making him born in about 1932. Genealogical search. Please help. All leads appreciated.

• I have traced my PRENTIS line back to 1600 but I have a couple of "thin spots. " I am needing further documentation on two men, both named PASCAL PRENTIS. One was born 16 Oct. 1806 in Milton, Chittenden County, VT. He married a woman named Jane ?, born ca 1814 in Vaughan Township, York County, Ontario. The other, his son, was born in 1834 in Vaughan Township, York County, Ontario. He married Jannet Macrae (born 1843, Black Isle, Ross & Cromarty, Scotland) 10 June 1861 at Cape Rich, St. Vincent Township, Grey County, Ontario. Pascal (b 1834) and Jannet had five daughters: Mary Jane, b. 1862, Elizabeth, b. 31 Aug 1863, Port Elgin, Bruce County, Ont Janet, b 1865/ 6, Bruce County, Ontario Georgina, b. 12 April 1867, Saugeen Twp, Bruce County Olive, b. 10 April 1871, Saugeen Twp, Bruce Co, Ont. PascalPRENTIS and Jannet MACRAE were divorced in Marquette, Michigan in 1874-5. Pascal was not present in Michigan at the time of the divorce. Does anyone know anything about his whereabouts after 1871? Any info about the deaths of either Pascal PRENTIS or Jane (?) PRENTIS. I am spelling their surname as PRENTIS because that is how Jannet Macrae Prentis signed her name at the time of the divorce. Susan Clark
