» A romantic poet sends us some stanzas addressed to a young woman, and commencing---"We met as meet the day and night." We can't encourage amalgamation.

By G.D. Prentice, Editor of the Louisville Journal, 1860.

A note from L. J. Dewald, Editor: If you are interested in the Prentice, Prentis or Prentiss surname, you will find helpful information here. Over the past few years, we have gathered more than 35,000 Prentices and their spouses in our database, ranging from the 1300s to the present time, and we would be pleased to use our resources to help you trace your family roots.

A disclaimer: much of our information comes from our correspondents and is reasonably accurate. • My family is searching for facts about the family of Lucy A. Prentice, born in No. Stonington, CT and married at Norwich, CT in 1854 to George H. Webb formerly of Canada. They apparently moved to Canada before 1859, as my grandfather, Francis M. Webb, was born in Canada that year. Her dates don't match any families that we could find in the records.

• Hello, I am trying to find Martin "Marty" Prentice. He attended High School in Lake Mills, Wisconsin in the early sixties. I believe he would be 61 or 62 years old. His mother's name is or was Anita. I believe his father was some type of engineer and may have been employed at Hamlin Inc. of Lake Mills, Wisconsin; I am not sure of his first name. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

• Looking for information on the ancestry of Dolly PRENTICE who married Charles H. SOLE on 11 Nov 1792 in New London, CT. Dolly and Charles are reputed to be my GGGGGG Grandparents. They had three daughters: Charlotte, Elizabeth, and Susannah. Dolly's first marriage record describes her as "the daughter of John Prentice. " She second married Frederick ROBERTS on 29 Jun 1806 in New London, CT. They had three daughters: Emilia, Mary Ann, and Rebecca. Thanks in advance for any assistance, and congratulations on a wonderful web site. -- Bill Merklee
